A United States military aircraft was filmed soaring above Cornwall. The craft, a Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey, departed from RAF Lakenheath in Mildenhall earlier today (Thursday, January 30) before it was spotted flying over western Cornwall at around 12pm.
According to aircraft tracker FlightRadar, the helicopter made several circuits over St Just and Lamorna between 12pm and 12.30pm, before it began heading back up north towards Sussex.
The V-22 Osprey is a multi-use military transport and cargo aircraft operated by the United Stated Air Force. According to the USAF, the the CV-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff, hover and vertical landing qualities of a helicopter with the long-range, fuel efficiency and speed characteristics of a turboprop aircraft.
Simon Williams captured footage of the craft - which you can watch at the top of this article - as it flew over the St Just area in west Cornwall.
FlightRadar also shows two British Royal Navy helicopters flying out the Cornwall coastlines.
