A bomb disposal team removed a World War Two grenade from a property after it was found in a Cornish town this afternoon. A 50m cordon was created around a property in Bosorne Road, St Just after the suspected device was discovered.
Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the scene at around 1.20pm today (Friday, January 31). A spokesperson for the force has said the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit has been called to the scene.
A message sent from Cape Cornwall School to parents and guardians said cordons are in place on Bosorne Road, Queen Street, Princess Street, Victoria Road, Bosorne Street and Regent Terrace. We will bring you more updates on this story in the live blog below.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the bomb was taken by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to be safely disposed of this afternoon. The cordon has been lifted.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were notified that a suspected grenade had been found in the Bosborne Road area of St Just at around 1.20pm today, Friday 31 January.
"The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended and removed the device for safe disposal. A50-metre cordon that had been put in place has been lifted."
