A care home has come under police investigation over safeguarding fears. Parc VRO residential home in St Keverne Road, Mawgan outside Helston, is being probed by Devon and Cornwall Police over allegations that the standard of care has not been adequate and allegedly led to residents suffering physical and psychological abuse.
In a message to CornwallLive, a whistle blower alleged that two of the carers had been escorted from the premises and suspended without pay pending further inquiries and a third was also suspended without pay as a result of complaints made by the families of some of the residents.
The whistleblower said the safeguarding investigation had come about after concerned relatives are believed to have installed a secret camera in their loved one's room due to ongoing concerns about their relatives' standard of care.
They also claimed that one resident had been subject to an emergency adult social care move on Thursday, January 14, due to emergency safeguarding protocols and is said to have been placed in a new care home.

They told us: "There will be more information coming to light and I feel it's important for people to be aware of, especially those with family members that are vulnerable, residing at Parc VRO that have been under the care of these individuals and also other members of staff that may have witnessed certain behaviours and failed to report their concerns or thought it was acceptable."
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed an investigation was underway. They said: "We have been informed of a suspected safeguarding concern of a resident at a care home in West Cornwall.
"Officers are currently in the very initial stages of their enquiry into the report and are working closely with Cornwall Council Adult Safeguarding Services and the Care Quality Commission. No further safeguarding concerns have been raised at this time. No arrests have taken place."
We have contacted a spokesperson for the care home but they refused to comment.
