A seafront Co-op store in Falmouth was burgled during the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday, January 23). It came just 24 hours after a Co-op in St Columb Major was also broken into.

Police were called to the shop on Cliff Road at around 3am yesterday. The burglars broke in and stole items before fleeing the scene.

The force said the offenders are yet to be caught and remain at large. Officers believe the latest burglary is linked to the break-in at St Columb Major near Newquay on Wednesday morning (January 22).

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 3am on Thursday 23 January following reports of a burglary at a commercial premises on Cliff Road, Falmouth.

"It was reported that entry was forced and property stolen. Two suspects then left the scene and currently remain outstanding. Enquiries are ongoing.

"It is believed this is linked to similar incident in St Columb Major. Anybody with information or relevant CCTV footage is asked to call 101 or visit our website quoting 50250018167."

Both also follow a spate of shop break-ins throughout mid-Cornwall. Police have confirmed they are linking burglaries at garages in St Austell and Newquay and shops in and around Newquay within the past few weeks. Read more about the burglary gang sweeping across Cornwall here.
